Christmas tree pick-up points will open in Kyiv in January: addresses

From January 4, New Year’s Christmas tree reception points for ecological disposal will start operating in Kyiv.
This year, their number will increase, the Kyiv City State Administration reported.
44 Christmas tree reception points will work in every district of the capital until the end of January.
“They will be located in the parks and squares of the capital, as well as traditionally – on the territory of our communal enterprises for the maintenance of green spaces and forestry farms”, – said Volodymyr Prokopiv, Deputy Chairman of the KMDA for the exercise of self-governing powers.

Collected trees are disposed of for further use in the green economy.
“From the collection points, Christmas trees and pine trees are sent to ecological disposal. There they are chopped into chips and then used to mulch the holes of young trees. This is done to preserve moisture in the summer and protect the plant roots from freezing in the cold season.” – explained the director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the KMDA Oleksandr Vozniy.
Only live trees without decorative ornaments will be accepted for disposal.
