‘Deeply depressed’: Norwegian mass murderer asks for prison terms

The Norwegian Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in 2011, filed a lawsuit against the state with the demand to ease the conditions of his imprisonment. He claims that the long isolation has caused him “deep depression”.
The court will consider his lawsuit in the coming weeks, writes Reuters.
On July 22, 2011, Anders Breivik killed eight people at a Labor Party youth camp using a car bomb. He also shot and killed 69 people, most of whom were teenagers.
This tragedy is the worst crime committed in Norway in peacetime.

For this, the criminal was sentenced to 21 years in a maximum security prison.
“He is still proud of what he did. Breivik still holds the same ideological views“, said the lawyer of the Ministry of Justice Andreas Hetland.
The criminal is considered an extremely dangerous prisoner. The term of his stay behind bars can be extended if he continues to be considered a threat to society.
“Breivik was isolated for about 12 years… He lives in a completely closed world and no longer wants to be alive.”– claims the criminal’s lawyer Oystein Storrvik.
Government lawyers argue that Breivik’s isolation was “relative” because he was in contact with guards, a priest, medical workers, as well as a volunteer whom the criminal no longer wants to see. In addition, a dangerous murderer sees two prisoners once a week during an hour’s walk.
