The State Film Agency did not sign a contract with Olena Honcharuk, who won the competition for the post of general director of the Dovzhenko Center on February 6. The parties did not reach an agreement on several points of the contract, Suspilne reports. Moreover, State Cinema representatives say that there is no agreement on 5 points, and Honcharuk and the lawyers point to disagreements on 25 points. “The contract with Olena Honcharuk was not signed. As if anyone had any doubts. State Cinema took it to the last day, many points were unacceptable for Olena. Therefore, the contract needs to be rewritten, agreed and discussed,” journalist Lena Chichenina wrote on her Facebook page. Olena Honcharuk. At it, the court considered several motions of both parties. Among them is a motion to close the case from Derzhkino’s lawyers. In court, State Cinema representatives stated that the archives of the Center allegedly have no cultural value, because they were not even taken out of the capital before the invasion of the Russian Federation. “The Ministry of Culture, as a body in this field [культурної спадщини] carries out policy, determines: what is stored in the Dovzhenko Center is not a cultural value. And therefore it was not even subject to evacuation during hostilities [в Києві та області]”, – the press service of the Dovzhenko Center quotes this statement. Chichenina, who was present at the court, noted that earlier there were suspicions that Derzhkino was delaying the consideration of the case, and now it has become obvious. The court scheduled the next hearing for March 7. In August 2022 State Cinema issued an order on the reorganization of the Dovzhenko Center, which the institution called in fact an attempt at raiding. In November, Olena Honcharuk was removed from the duties of acting general director, and a new temporary acting director Yulia Khazhdan was appointed in her place. After her resignation due to the protests of the film community, they tried to appoint the film critic Andrii Alfyorov, but he also did not begin to perform his duties. On December 21, State Cinema announced a new competition for the position of the head of the Dovzhenko Center. The second stage of the meeting of the competition commission was supposed to take place on February 3. Before him, it became clear that that the previous evening, a case had been opened against one of the candidates, Olena Honcharuk. However, despite this, Honcharuk won the competition for the position of head of the Center for the second time. In parallel with this, the judicial review of the appeal of the reorganization of the Dovzhenko Center initiated by the State Cinema continues. As well as the investigation of the hastily opened proceedings regarding the two-time winner of the Honcharuk contest: on February 7, the institution was asked to provide documentation starting from 2021, and a week later, on February 15, the SBU came to the Center with a search.
