Doctors from Vinnytsia performed a unique prosthesis known for quick rehabilitation

Vinnytsia doctors performed prosthetics unique to Ukrainian medicine. It is able to restore sensitivity to the patient and helps speed up rehabilitation.

The first steps on such prostheses can be taken already on the second day after the operation, reported at the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. I. Pirogov.

Osteointegration prosthetics is the insertion of an implant into the bone of the patient’s amputated limb. In the future, the components of the prosthesis are fixed to its outer part.

“This technique is innovative for Ukraine and is aimed at increasing patient mobility and speeding up rehabilitation after amputation.

An important advantage of osseointegration is that it restores sensitivity to the patient, he can feel and distinguish the surfaces he steps on.” – the hospital said.

The patient will be able to take the first steps on the prostheses already on the second day after the operation. In another six weeks, he will be fully walking.

The Australian orthopedic traumatologist Munyed Al Muderis helped Vinnytsia doctors to perform the operation. He has already performed one and a half thousand similar interventions around the world.

“The idea of ​​osseointegration is rapid rehabilitation and return to independent life. I have patients all over the world – people who have been in a car accident, soldiers with mine and explosive injuries, as well as those affected by infectious and other diseases.” Al Muderis noted.
