As Suspilne reports, during the court session, the representative of Derzhkino insisted on closing the case, as the order allegedly lost its validity. But the plaintiff, that is, representatives of the Dovzhenko Center, did not agree with this. The judge listened to the speech of the winner of the competition for the position of head of the Dovzhenko Center, Olena Honcharuk. She noted that the institution is a custodian of cultural heritage, although Derzhkino denies this. Instead, it is important to legally recognize the Center as a film fund. So in the end, the court decided not to close the case, as Derzhkino wanted. And later he announced a decision declaring the order to reorganize the Dokzhenko Center illegal. Derzhkino says they will file an appeal. How the State Cinema tried to reorganize the Dovzhenko Center In August 2022, the State Cinema issued an order to reorganize the Dovzhenko Center, which the institution called an attempt at raiding. In November, Olena Honcharuk was suspended from performing the duties of acting head of state. general director, and Yuliya Kazhdan was appointed instead. After her resignation due to the protests of the film community, Derzhkino tried to appoint a film critic Andriy Alfiorov, but he also did not start performing his duties. On December 21, a new competition was announced for the position of head of the Dovzhenko Center. The second stage of the meeting of the tender committee was to take place on February 3. It became clear to him that the previous evening, a case had been opened against one of the candidates, Olena Honcharuk. However, despite this, on February 6, Honcharuk won the competition for the second time. In parallel with this, the judicial review of the appeal of the reorganization of the Dovzhenko Center, which was initiated by Derzhkino, continued. And also the investigation of the hastily opened proceedings regarding Honcharuk. In mid-June, the winner of the competition for the position of head of the Dovzhenko Center, Olena Honcharuk, filed a personal complaint against State Cinema. In the lawsuit, she demands that she be given a contract to manage the Center, which has not been done since February 2023, when she won the competition for the second time. At a meeting at the end of June, State Cinema tried to close the case on the cancellation of the order regarding the reorganization of the Dovzhenko Center.
