Several dozen oncologists, surgeons and medical directors from all over Ukraine signed an open letter to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada with a call to adopt a law on the legalization of medical cannabis. This substance will facilitate and improve the quality of life of patients who need it, says oncologist Andriy Beznosenko. He gives examples of other substances and agents that help patients: casts, chemotherapy, insulin, morphine, etc. “But some of the non-doctors do not know that medical cannabis helps overcome the effects of chemotherapy, treats PTSD in the military, helps the lives of patients with Parkinson’s disease and, most importantly, provides an acceptable quality of life for patients at the last stage of life,” – adds Beznosenko. In the document, they call for a vote on the draft law on access to medical cannabis. “If anyone has reservations about controlling cultivation and appointments, vote #7457 the day after tomorrow and control the creation and implementation of bylaws. But vote, because patients expect it,” says the doctor. We will remind you that recently the Ministry of Veterans Affairs supported the legalization of medical cannabis. Ukrainian patients are also being asked to sign the law. For example, military Mykhailo Bakaliuk was blown up by a mine in the Zaporozhye direction in 2023. His leg was torn off. Now the doctor injects him with painkillers, while this problem could be solved by legalizing medical cannabis. Bill No. 7457 on the use of medical cannabis was registered in the parliament at the beginning of June 2022. However, it was sent for revision several times. On June 28, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, the president called on the deputies to support this bill and legalize medical cannabis in Ukraine.
