Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg went on strike as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip amid the escalation of the conflict with Israel.
The girl published the corresponding post with pro-Palestinian slogans on Instagram on October 20. The spokesman of the Israeli army reacted to Thunberg’s statement, her position also caused outrage among many followers.
“Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world must speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all affected civilians“, Thunberg wrote, publishing contacts of organizations that help Palestinians.
At the same time, the activist said that she is “against any kind of discrimination and condemns anti-Semitism in all its forms and manifestations.”
In response, Israeli army spokesman Aryeh Sharuz Shalikar told POLITICO that whoever will identify with Greta in the future, in his opinion, is a “supporter of terror”.
“What Greta is doing, the fact that she is now showing solidarity with Gaza without saying a word about the mass killings of Israelis, shows that she is not really on the side of the Palestinians, but is silencing the terror of the Palestinians or Hamas and Islamic Jihad as if it does not exist “he added.

Most of the commenters under Greta’s post also expressed outrage.
“A liberal activist who chooses one side and ignores the murders and kidnappings of Israeli children and civilians. No words”– wrote the musician Kfir Ohayon.
“Greta, you used to inspire me, but now you are a huge disappointment. You have not condemned Hamas and Jihad for the murders and executions of babies, children and innocent people. My friends are dead and held hostage – and you don’t care…
You can be for the Palestinians, for Israel and against Hamas and terrorists. Liberation of Gaza from Hamas will benefit everyone”,” added ecoactivist and wildlife photographer Roy Galitz.
At the same time, under Thunberg’s post there were also positive comments thanking the Palestinians for their support.
It will be recalled that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated on October 7, when the Palestinian militant group Hamas massively attacked Israel with rockets.
On this day, militants attacked the Supernova electronic music festival in the Negev desert near the border with the Gaza Strip, killing many people or taking them hostage.
On the night of October 9, Israel’s air force carried out massive strikes on the Gaza Strip. The IDF said Israel had “severely weakened the capabilities” of Hamas.
The President of Ukraine supported Israel and stated that Russia is behind the Hamas group. He wanted to visit Israel in solidarity, but was refused because it was “not the right time”.
