CEO of Twitter Inc. Elon Musk announced new features of the social network.

It is about adding calls and encrypted messages to the platform, Reuters reports.

“Voice and video chat are coming soon so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number.” – said Elon Musk.

Twitter’s calling feature will bring the microblogging platform in line with social media apps Meta ( META.O ), Facebook and Instagram, which have similar features.

Musk said a version of encrypted direct messages will be available on Twitter starting May 10, 2022, but did not specify whether the calls will be encrypted.

Twitter said this week that it is beginning a cleanup process, namely deleting and archiving accounts that have been inactive for several years.

Last year, Musk announced plans for “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App,” which he said would have features like encrypted direct messages (DMs), long tweets and payments.

We will remind you that earlier Twitter returned the “blue check” without paying for subscription to some accounts that have more than a million followers.
