Epidemic season has started in Kyiv: how many people got sick with flu and ARVI

In Kyiv, during the week of October 2-8, 9,519 patients with influenza and SARS, including COVID-19, were registered.

Thus, the epidemic season has begun in the capital, the Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health reports.

5,786 patients who fell ill during the last week are children. 45.3% of them are schoolchildren. 3,733 adults fell ill.

During the week, 109 people were hospitalized, including 25 children and 94 adults.

Doctors diagnosed 387 patients with COVID-19, including 21 children under the age of 17 and 366 adult patients.

“Currently, four adult patients are in the intensive care and intensive care unit. Two adults died from complications of COVID-19”the institution reports.

The Kyiv center added that currently the weekly incidence is 2.5 times below the epidemic threshold.

“The intensive incidence rate per 100,000 population was 322.4”, – informed the institution.

Flu vaccination does not protect against COVID-19 and vice versa.

As a reminder, a special COVID-vaccine for children aged 5-11 has appeared in Ukraine.
