April 25 is not an international daughter’s day and is celebrated only in Russia. This was reported in the “NotaYenota” fact-checking initiative. Information that April 25 is Daughter’s Day was spread by the Ukrainian mass media, and users of social networks congratulated their daughters on the holiday. “This is not an international daughter’s day. And not even a Ukrainian one. The source of information about “April 25 – International Daughter’s Day” is the Russian media,” project representatives say. However, there are several dates that claim to be International Daughter’s Day. For example, the International Day of Daughters began to be celebrated in India, where girls are discriminated against, on the fourth Sunday of September. Later, this date spread to other countries. This year, Daughter’s Day will fall on September 25. The Indo-Canadian Women’s Association has also introduced Daughter’s Day since 2012, which is celebrated on September 1. “In general, except in Russia, April 25 is not celebrated anywhere as Mother’s Day. Please do not spread Muscovite holidays to our country. Take care of yourself and your daughters and sons!” – they call in the organization. We will remind you that earlier we told how the holiday of March 8 appeared. Read also: Independence Day is valued more than the New Year: how the attitude of Ukrainians to holidays has changed. Poll
