For the first time, a Ukrainian entered the world’s top ten teachers

For the first time, a participant from Ukraine made it to the ten best teachers in the world according to the Global Teacher Prize, the most prestigious global award for educators.
The laureate was a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature and the winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2021 Artur Proydakovreported on the award page.
With his achievement, Artur Proydakov aims to convey to the world that Ukrainian teachers and educators continue to perform their work well even in times of full-scale war.
“It is very difficult to believe in this and realize this. 10 people on planet Earth. 10 educators. And I, a Ukrainian teacher, am among these 10. It inspires and motivates”– Proydakov said.
It is known that the teacher is from the city of Kadiivka, Luhansk region, which is currently temporarily occupied.
He lived there until November 2014, after which he worked in Sumy Oblast at a public school in the city of Romny, and then at the MIDGARD school in Kyiv.
After February 24, 2022, Artur Proydakov organized Ukrainian language courses for immigrants, conducted lessons within the framework of the All-Ukrainian schedule.
He is also the author of lessons at the All-Ukrainian online school and holds the position of executive director at the MriyDiy educational foundation.
“For seven years, we have been developing the Global Teacher Prize movement in Ukraine, and during this time our teachersli have been included in the top 50 list more than once. But the ten finalists are a star level, an educational vanguard.
These are people (teachers who made it to the top 10 – ed.) with whom world leaders will communicate, without whom no important educational event is complete, people who have a positive influence on education and which will inspire hundreds of thousands of teachers all over the planet.” – said the founder of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine, Zoya Lytvyn.

The name of the best teacher of the planet in 2023 will be announced on November 8 in Paris at the UNESCO headquarters.
The winner of the prize will receive an award of 1 million dollars.

The Global Teacher Prize is sometimes called “Nobel prize for teachers“. It was founded by an Indian billionaire and the son of a school teacher Sunny Varki.
In 2017, the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine was founded in order to emphasize the importance of teachers in Ukraine – annual national award for teachers who are agents of educational change.
As a reminder, this year two Ukrainian teachers – Artur Proydakov and Lyudmila Tabolina – made it to the list of the 50 best teachers in the world.
