In October, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the reform of higher education in Ukraine, which provides for the abolition of correspondence education in universities.

The Ministry of Education and Science expects that the draft law can enter into force from the next school year, Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Higher Education Mykhailo Vynnytskyi said on the air of the Yedyni Novyni telethon.

According to him, the draft law “On individual educational trajectories” will affect admission to higher education institutions in the 2024-2025 academic year.

“The innovations will apply only to students who enroll in studies in 2024. Those who started their studies earlier must complete them according to the form of study in which they studied.” – said Vynnytskyi.

We previously reported that the draft law should “optimize higher education in Ukraine and bring it closer to European standards.”

The document proposes to allow students of higher education, in particular:

  • independently regulate the study period;
  • to choose a specialty during studies;
  • learn remotely.

We will remind you that the State Service for the Quality of Education named 28 higher education institutions with a high degree of risk.
