Swedish writer Fredrik Buckman issued a public statement regarding the publication of his book in Russia. The day before, the Russian publishing house announced the pre-order of the third part of the “Bear City” trilogy, and the Ukrainian publisher turned to the author for an explanation.

I have received many messages about my books being published in Russia. I do not approve of this, nor do I want it. As far as I know, none of the Swedish writers or publishers currently work in Russia. My current agents and my former agents follow international laws and sanctions, and I personally follow the instructions of PEN Sweden“, Buckman noted.

The writer added that even against his will, his previous books will be published in the Russian Federation, because “unfortunately there is no way for me or any other international author to stop this“.

But I have not sent and will not send any new book to any Russian publisher as long as the war continues“, the author of “Bear City” emphasized.
