Pope Francis called for a universal ban on surrogate motherhood.

He listed him as a threat to “global peace and human dignity,” the Associated Press reported.

In an address to the ambassadors accredited to the Holy See, the pontiff listed the problems that have a detrimental effect on humanity. He named surrogate motherhood as one of them.

The Pope noted that in today’s world, the life of an unborn child is “turned into an object of trade.”

“I consider the vile practice of so-called surrogate motherhood, which is a gross violation of the dignity of a woman and a child, based on the exploitation of the situational material needs of the mother,” – he said.

The pontiff also emphasized that a child is a gift, not “the basis of a commercial contract.” Therefore, he called for a ban on this practice worldwide.

In his address, Pope Francis also mentioned the war in Ukraine, the war between Israel and Hamas, migration, climate crises, and the production of conventional and nuclear weapons.

In addition, during the speech, the pontiff publicly accused Russia of waging a full-scale war against Ukraine, although he had previously avoided doing so.

We will remind you that the Pope allowed to bless same-sex couples, but not to conduct weddings or any marriage ceremonies for them.
