On February 14, 2024, the largest resident of the Kyiv Zoo, the elephant Khoras, turned 19.

According to the zoo, his age is approximately equal to 24 years of human life.

The zoo says: Horace was born on February 14, 2005 in Germany – in Tierpark Berlin.

From the very morning, we greeted our elephant with special treats: a juicy vegetable and fruit mix on a banana leaf.

And not in a wintery way, the warm weather allowed the birthday boy to have sports entertainment as well!” – the post says.

The zoo reminds that back in 2017, at the beginning of the global reconstruction, the Kyiv Zoo planned to equip the Valley of Elephants. On an area of more than 6 hectares, conditions close to natural should be created for these animals. After that, it is also planned to create an elephant group.

But first – our Victory. We love you, our young Horace! Happy Birthday!” – noted in the Kyiv Zoo.

We will remind you that the family of rescued ferrets moved to the new enclosure of the fruit garden of the Kyiv Zoo. All of them were rescued from the Kyiv region in the spring of 2022, when the fighting was going on there.

The Kyiv Zoo also told the story of the rescue of a pair of feline lemurs from Kherson. During another Russian shelling, a local zoo was destroyed. As a result of the shelling, the lemur Adam received a contusion, burns and injuries. He was transferred to Kyiv Zoo for treatment and rehabilitation. And then they reunited with their beloved.

And earlier, the Kyiv Zoo showed how Bayraktar lemur and other “war cubs” grew up.

Also, an unusual family of duck and goose lovers was formed in the menagerie.
