On January 9, the police and concerned residents searched for a 6-year-old boy from Lviv who left school and went in an unknown direction. The child was found in the village of Sokolnyky, she walked about 7.5 kilometers by herself in 10-degree frost.

Law enforcement officers received information about a 6-year-old boy who left one of the schools in the Frankivskyi district at 3 p.m. He never came home, the police of the Lviv Region reported.

Information about the missing child was posted in almost all public places in the city. The child was found in the village of Sokilnyky and handed over to relatives at the police station. In the future, police officers from the juvenile unit worked with his family.

As “UP. Life” was told in the press service of the police of the Lviv region, the search for the child lasted less than an hour.

“In fact, we found out about his disappearance somewhere at 5:50 p.m. Already at 18.28, our police officers reported that they managed to find him. Why a 6-year-old child left school alone, why no one met her, we cannot comment for certain reasons, this was handled by juvenile prevention.

But the boy is actually a hero, because he walked about 7.5 kilometers by himself in minus 10 degrees, he was not afraid, even though he was cold. Apparently, he did not have a phone to call his relatives“, says the spokeswoman of the patrol police of the Lviv region, Kateryna Rybiy.

According to her, the law enforcement officers were most impressed by the fact that many people did not react in any way to the “journey” of such a small child.

“We know that the boy entered some institutions on the way, why didn’t the employees contact the police? It’s really sad. The child also told us that cars stopped, people offered to give him a ride, but he refused because he was afraid to sit with strangers.

A young couple who saw him and recognized that this was the child they were looking for left their car and went to him, took him to a supermarket, gave him tea, bought a bun and then called the police“, adds Rybiy.

In general, law enforcement officers find children quickly if the missing person report is received immediately and if the child did not run away from home on purpose, the police added.

“We urge citizens not to be indifferent, if they see such a small and unattended child, they should either look for adults who take care of them, or call 102“, – emphasizes the spokeswoman of the patrol police of the Lviv region.
