Horses, deer, beavers: losses from the death of animals in the Kherson region are estimated at 883 million hryvnias

Due to the undermining of the Kakhov Dam, the mass death of wild animals is possible: the Russians committed the crime precisely during the breeding season. Losses from the death of animals are estimated at more than 883 million hryvnias, but these figures are not final. Approximate calculations were made by the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine, reports the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets. “During the war, wild animals suffer no less than people. Those who managed to escape during the disaster are left without a home. The Russians committed a crime during the season of mass reproduction. Many animals have not had time to be born, but have already been deprived of a chance to live.” – says the minister. Horses, deer, deer, wild boars, roe deer, muskrats, beavers, foxes, hares and birds could die from the Russians’ detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP. “Wings do not guarantee the survival of birds after this disaster. Those who miraculously saved their lives are forced to leave their habitat, look for a new place and adapt to new conditions,” added Strelets. We will remind you that Russia’s undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP threatened the disappearance of 30% of the nature reserve fund of the Kherson region. In general, the estimated amount of damage to the environment due to the tragedy already amounts to more than 55 billion hryvnias. In particular, the occupiers caused damages of more than UAH 46 billion to the Nizhnyodniprovsky National Park.
