In Odesa, as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, a cholera-like vibrio was found in the Black Sea near the seaport, which can cause acute intestinal infections. This is reported on the website of the city council. According to the information of the state institution “Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”, a positive result of astrovirus RNA was found in water samples taken on June 10 near sea pier No. 2. Astrovirus is a virus that can cause gastroenteritis (also known as stomach flu) in humans. It is spread through close contact with infected people or through contaminated food or water. It is noted that these bacteria are not the causative agent of cholera, but cause acute intestinal infections. “The sanitary situation is under constant control,” the state institution emphasizes. At the same time, of the selected 4 samples of drinking water, no dangerous bacteria were detected during the sanitary, microbiological and chemical indicators. The sea water was also tested on the beaches of Odesa: on the beach “Lanzheron” an excess of suspended solids (an indicator indicating the amount of impurities retained on a paper filter during sample filtering) was recorded 5 times, and salinity was below the norm by 2.9 times; at the 16th station of the Great Fountain, an excess of suspended solids was recorded by 2.1 times, and salinity was below the norm by 2.4 times. Earlier, the Ministry of Health commented on the rumors about the outbreak of cholera in the area of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
