For example, a copy of marriage certificates, birth certificates, as well as a document indicating the family’s place of residence. Also, the report must indicate which way the soldier will travel and what type of transport. It is important to take into account the terms, since the leave of a military man is usually no more than 30 days. Also, a military man will not be released if 30% of the personnel of the military unit is on vacation. Andrii Novak doubts that an unmarried military man can be allowed to rest abroad, because there are great risks that he will not return to the unit. “If there is no family, I doubt they will let him go. Only the commander makes the decision. And if a military man wants to see his family, that is natural. And if he just leaves, it is not known what his purpose is,” says the lawyer. A military man will be released from the country if there is a corresponding order of the commander and a discharge ticket with permission, which will indicate the country of departure and the terms. The lawyer emphasizes that it is also worth remembering about other bans on leaving, in particular, due to unpaid alimony or fines. Before the trip, a soldier who has a commander’s order for permission to leave the country should also register it with the military law enforcement agencies. According to Andrii Novak, problems at the foreign border are less likely. The main thing is to have a passport and follow the rules for crossing the border.
