Rehabilitation of military personnel after capture has no time limits.
But after full recovery, the soldier can be sent to the front again. This is stated in the response to the request of “UP.Zhyttia” to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“The duration of rehabilitation treatment of discharged servicemen depends on each specific clinical case.
Rehabilitation care in rehabilitation hospitals (departments) is provided by a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team during the rehabilitation cycle”, explained the Center for the Restoration of Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In case of medical and psychological indications, released prisoners can pass several rehabilitation cycles per year.
After physical and psychological rehabilitation, fighters must undergo a medical examination again by hospital (garrison) VLKs to determine their fitness for military service.
But everything is not so simple, because the commission also takes into account:
- age;
- education;
- military profession;
- preparation;
- experience;
- actual working capacity;
- motivation for further military service;
- the opinion of the command and the head of the medical service of the military unit, set out in the service and medical characteristics;
- the possibility of further military service in a position that best corresponds to the state of health.
Therefore, if a military officer is deemed fit by the VLK after capture and rehabilitation, he must return to performing his duties.
We will remind you that the Ministry of Defense recently announced that after being captured, the military have pass a full cycle of recovery and rehabilitation developed together with foreign specialists using Western methods.
