78% of adult Ukrainians in 2022 grew plants, 66% did it in their own garden or in a garden near the house. In general, the majority of Ukrainians have a positive attitude to working on the land and growing plants, as evidenced by the survey conducted by the Kyiv Institute of Sociology. 65% of respondents grew vegetables and vegetables for their own consumption, 43% – fruits, berries, nuts, 34% – indoor plants, 29% – street flowers, 7% – medicinal herbs, and 5% – vegetables and vegetables for sale. 23% of Ukrainians grew plants at home, 16% – in the country, 13% – in the field, 5% – in the yard and 5% – on the balcony. 65% of respondents grew vegetables and greens for their own consumption. Sociologists have concluded that women and people aged 45 and older are somewhat more likely to grow plants. “However, despite some difference in the level of involvement, the majority of adult residents of Ukraine, regardless of gender, age, place of residence, are engaged in growing plants, and in most cases, they do it for pleasure, not out of necessity. The survey data also show that a positive attitude to growing plants and working on the land. That is, growing plants is a universal and highly important occupation for many residents of the country,” sociologists say. The survey was conducted on December 24-26, 2022 by telephone interview method. The study sample is representative of the adult population of Ukraine (aged 18 and older). The population living in the temporarily occupied territories did not participate in the survey. Statistical sampling error (with a probability of 0.95 and excluding the design effect) does not exceed 3.1% for rates close to 50%, 2.7% for rates close to 25 or 75%, 1.9% for rates , close to 10 or 90%, 1.4% for values close to 5 or 95%, 0.7% for values close to 1 or 99%.
