Minimizing stress for pets Pets can experience stress. To minimize its impact: ✅️ during air raids or shelling, be close to the animal so that it feels safe. When going to the shelter, do not leave her at home alone; ✅️ hug or pet the animal to calm it down. To divert the attention of a four-legged friend from anxious feelings, you can play something with him; ✅️ in case of severe stress, it is worth giving her a sedative from the first aid kit. If the animal was injured during the firing: If possible, evacuate the animal to a safe place. If the bleeding is strong, a bandage should be applied to the wound. Pre-moisten the bandage with a disinfectant solution, wrap it around the wound in several layers and bandage tightly. Apply a tourniquet above the bleeding site and do not remove it for at least an hour and a half. If the bleeding is not severe, it can be stopped with zinc oxide. In case of venous bleeding, the vessels should be squeezed with the fingers to close the wound. If an animal has a fracture, it is necessary to act similarly to a fracture in a person – to fix the limb and apply a splint, firmly tie it to the damaged limb. If the animal has an open fracture, fracture of the pelvis or back, it should not be allowed to move until the veterinarian examines it. Rescuing domestic animals In the event of a burn, you must: eliminate the source of the burn: put out the fire or knock it away from the animal; if this is not possible – try to protect the most vulnerable parts of the body – eyes, paws, ears, nose. wash the burn site for 3-5 minutes and apply an ice compress; cut the fur from the burn site, put a sterile bandage on it. Do not self-treat burns with ointments or compresses made of cotton wool or any other fibrous material. This can make it difficult for the wound to heal. Evacuation of dogs Remember that an injured animal is under stress and may behave aggressively. In this state, she can defend herself and cause harm, so if possible, it is necessary to give painkillers or sedatives. At the first opportunity, show the animal to a veterinarian, regardless of the nature and degree of injury.
