Military Andriy Marchuk is returning to service after amputation and prosthetic leg. The story of the soldier who has been defending Ukraine since 2014 was told at the Ministry of Health. Andriy comes from the Kherson region. In 2014, he joined the army straight from the Maidan. The beginning of a full-scale war came on the ninth month of his rotation. On February 24, 2022, the soldier was in the Luhansk region. On February 12, 2023, the defender was injured near Kreminna: he stepped on an anti-personnel mine. Andriy was evacuated to Sloviansk, where his leg was fixed and anesthetized, and in Kramatorsk it was amputated. For another month, the defender was treated in Dnipro and Rivne, after which he went to Lviv for rehabilitation at the Superhumans Center prosthetics, reconstruction and rehabilitation clinic. Andriy has a pet – an American bulldog, which he calls Tezka. In the hospital, the soldier underwent prosthetics, and in a month he is going to return to duty: the chief instructor of the battalion. “I will teach young people,” says Andrii. Andriy wanted to own a bicycle since childhood, so one of the Lviv cycling clubs invited him to his place. Already a month after discharge, Andrii started riding a bicycle. At first he worked out on an exercise bike, but now he confidently rides the streets. In a month, Andriy is going to return to duty: the chief instructor of the battalion is Andriy’s pet – an American bulldog, whom he calls Tezka. “My nickname is Babai. And when I went to buy it, I saw that the dog’s passport says: “Babai,” the man recalls. The namesake went through the entire rehabilitation at the center with Andrii.
