In 2023, 20,000 new cases of tuberculosis were detected in Ukraine

In 2023, almost 20,000 new cases of active tuberculosis were recorded in Ukraine. Among them, more than 600 are children under the age of 14, and another two hundred are teenagers (from 15 to 17).

“In Ukraine, tuberculosis is treated according to modern standards and recommendations of the World Health Organization. Special anti-tuberculosis drugs are available to patients. Treatment can be outpatient or inpatient, it cannot be interrupted.” – the Ministry of Health explains.

Medicines for the treatment of this disease are free in Ukraine, the ministry emphasizes.
