A 44-year-old resident of the city of Kamianske in the Dnipropetrovsk region is suspected of inflicting serious injuries on his 8-year-old nephew.

The man lived with the five children of his wife and sister while they were abroad, point out in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

In a comment to “UP. Life”, the information policy department of the prosecutor’s office said that the victim has a congenital disease. Him health problems became the reason for the anger of his uncle, who for a long time beat him with a hand and a belt.

The child was hospitalized in serious condition. He is currently in the intensive care unit.

Prosecutors are trying to find out whether other children suffered from the suspect’s brutality.

“The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. A psychologist is working with the children. After that, investigators will conduct interrogations.” – say the prosecutor’s office.

Now the children are under the care of their grandmother. Investigators turned to Child Services to decide whether to terminate the mother’s parental rights.

The man was taken into custody. He is suspected of committing the crime provided for in part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – causing intentional grievous bodily harm to a minor child.

If the court proves his guilt, the suspect faces a prison sentence of 5 to 8 years.
