In one of the schools in France, the teacher showed the students a picture of the Renaissance era with the image of a naked body. He was fired after complaints from his Muslim parents.

In protest, other teachers at this school refused to go to work, the BBC and France 24 reported.

At a high school in Issos, a municipality west of Paris, during a French lesson, a teacher showed a 17th-century painting of naked women.

It is about the work of the Italian artist Giuseppe “Diana and Actaeon”. It depicts a story from Greek mythology – the hunter Actaeon bursts into the place where the goddess Diana and her nymphs bathe.

“Some students looked away, felt offended, said they were shocked. Some also claimed that the teacher made racist comments.” – says Sophie Venezitei from the Snes-FSU school teachers’ union.

The next day, the parents of one of the students wrote a letter to the school principal, claiming that their son was not allowed to speak during a subsequent class discussion.

According to Venetsitei, this situation was the “last straw” for the school’s teachers, who complained about the “very bad climate” and the “lack of support” from the management.

They sent a letter to parents saying they were exercising their right not to attend classes because of a “particularly difficult situation” at the high school.

Teachers cited “perceptible discomfort” and “increasing incidents of violence.” In particular, it is about cases of murder of teachers by radical Muslims.

In 2020, a history and geography teacher, Samuel Paty, was beheaded near his school in a suburb of Paris. This happened because Pati showed his class caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad from the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

In October 2023, Dominique Bernard, a literature teacher from the city of Arras, was stabbed to death by his former student shouting “Allahu akbar”.

French Education Minister Gabriel Attal said disciplinary measures would be taken against the students who filed complaints. At the same time, the school will be checked for compliance with the “values of the republic”.

It will be recalled that in the USA the headmistress of the school was forced to resign because the students were shown a “naked” sculpture by Michelangelo “David”.
