In Great Britain, the court overturned the ban on testing cosmetics on animals and allowed testing of chemical components on them. Previously, the ban on such testing was valid for 25 years. The permission was given in order for the legislation of Great Britain to comply with EU norms, the BBC reports. Since 1998, the country has had a ban on testing cosmetics or their ingredients on animals. However, in 2020 the European Chemicals Agency allowed companies to test some ingredients on animals to make sure they are safe for cosmetic workers. Despite leaving the EU in 2020, Great Britain has kept these rules in place. The decision of the Supreme Court to cancel this ban has already been criticized by more than 80 cosmetic brands.
