In Indonesia, on the island of Sumatra, due to the eruption of the Marapi volcano, 11 mountaineer tourists died, and 12 more went missing.
Another fifty tourists are injured, reports CNN.
Starting from the evening of December 3, rescuers took tourists with injuries of varying severity from the mountain near the crater of the volcano.
It is noted that a group of 3 tourists and another 49 people were discovered. All the travelers were exhausted and had burns and injuries.

Rescuers found the bodies of 11 dead tourists near the Marapi crater.
“Rescuers are lowering people one by one on their hands. We cannot conduct an aerial search with a helicopter, as the eruption is still ongoing”said the head of the rescue agency, Abdul Malik.
According to him, 120 rescuers were involved in the rescue.
Among the rescued tourists is 19-year-old student Zhafira Zahrim Febrina, who went to the mountains with 18 school friends on the eve of the volcanic eruption.
As a result of the eruption, the girl’s face was burnt, and her hair was covered with ash. In a conversation with the rescuers, she begged for help in a state of shock, turning to her mother.
It is noted that the girl is currently in the hospital.
It is known that after the eruption there was an emission of ash to a height of three kilometers. Ash settled in neighboring villages, particularly in the city of Bukittinggi, the third largest city in West Sumatra with a population of over 100,000 people.
The Marapi volcano has the second level of alert in Indonesia’s four-stage system, and the authorities have established a three-kilometer exclusion zone around its crater.
There are currently about 130 active volcanoes in Indonesia. The Indonesian archipelago is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where the contact of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
