The woman was charged with cruelty to animals (Part 2 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code).

The sanction of the article provides for restriction or deprivation of liberty for a period of three to five years.

The law enforcement officers also established that the woman already had problems with the law – an indictment for robbery was previously filed against her (part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code).

In a comment to “UP. Life”, police spokeswoman of the Obolon district of Kyiv, Khrystyna Pyatnytska, reported that the woman threw the dog away “due to emotional distress.”

“The dog was either whining or begging for food – due to emotional distress, the owner decided to throw it out of the window of the 7th floor. The woman lives alone.

An eyewitness who saw the animal fall from the window contacted the police.” Pyatnytska said.
