In Japan, more than 1.2 thousand tons of sardines and mackerel floated to the surface of the water near the island of Hokkaido.

Some media, in particular the Daily Mail, began to spread theories that the release of treated water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant was responsible for the death of the fish.
It is noted that tons of fish began to wash ashore almost four months after the plant began discharging water from the nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean.

By the way, earlier the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that the discharge of water would have a “negligible radiation effect on people and the environment.”
“We are concerned about unsubstantiated information”– said a representative of the Japanese fisheries agency, whose name is not being given.
According to him, images of the fish were shared on social networks – many of them accompanied “conspiracy theories about Fukushima“.
“No deviations were found in the results of water monitoring. We are worriednor by spreading information that is not based on scientific evidence“, – said in the fisheries agency.
