In the Holosiiv district of Kyiv, the square on Pankivska Street was named in honor of 15-year-old public activist Danylo Didik. He died in February 2015 as a result of a terrorist attack that occurred during the Unity March in Kharkiv.

The corresponding decision was adopted by the votes of 76 deputies at the plenary session of the Kyiv City Council, the press service of the institution reports.

“Danilo Didik is an example of Ukrainian youth who want to live in a free, independent Ukraine. Such courageous people are needed in our time, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine are repelling the aggressor. We will not give up, and we will not retreat. Eternal glory to the Heroes who defended at different times independence of Ukraine and fought for the truth”, – stressed the secretary of Kyiv Council Volodymyr Bondarenko.

We will remind, on February 22, 2015, an explosion occurred in Kharkiv near the Palace of Sports during a peaceful march in honor of the anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity. As a result, 15-year-old Danylo Didik suffered a severe brain injury and fell into a coma. The next day he died in the hospital.

In 2018, in the city of Pokrov, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the city council assigned the name of the activist Danyla Didik to the local children’s and youth sports school.

Kharkiv school No. 11 was also renamed in honor of the young activist in February 2023.
