In Kyiv, the 2023/2024 academic year will begin on September 1 and last until May 31. Compensatory classes and certifications will continue until June 28, 2024, the Kyiv City State Administration reports. In the new academic year, the semesters will last: I semester – from September 1 to December 22, 2023; II semester – from January 8 to May 31, 2024. The last bells will ring in schools on May 31. “Compensatory classes to overcome educational losses and educational gaps, certification and other measures provided for by the educational program can last until June 28, 2024,” the KMDA notes. Winter break is from December 23, 2023 to January 7, 2024, and spring break is from March 25 to March 31, 2024. Additional holidays for first graders are scheduled from February 19 to 25, 2024. The KMDA reminded that the format in which the school will work – face-to-face, remote or mixed – each educational institution will choose independently, in consultation with the parents of students.
