In Kyiv, letters are manually created for the new names of metro stations – “Ukrainian Heroes’ Square” and “Zvyrinetska”.

At the first stage, each letter is made by hand due to the peculiarity of the historical font.

Next, it is painted in a color with a bronze shade.

The author of historical fonts for the Kyiv subway, designer Bohdan Gdal, watches the process of creating new inscriptions.

Bohdan Gdal is a font designer who, on his own initiative, started work on creating new inscriptions for stations at the beginning of 2023.

Fonts for two renamed stations of the Kyiv metro were approved by architects in July last year.

“The architects of the renamed stations supported the artist’s idea and provided all the necessary approvals.

Making changes to the existing architectural design, in particular to the architectural appearance of the name of the metro station, is carried out only in agreement with the architect of this station.” – told the Kyiv City Council at the time.

We will remindin May 2023, Kyiv Council supported the decision about renaming stations “Lev Tolstoy Square” on “Square of Ukrainian Heroes” and “Friendship of Peoples” on “Zvirynetsk”.
