In Lviv, the rector of the church where Zhadan and Solovya’s music video was filmed was removed from his duties
Father Mykhailo Luchkiv, the abbot of the Lviv Church of St. Andrew, in which the band “Zhadan i Sobaky” and Khrystyna Solovay shot a music video, was removed from his duties.
This was reported in the Chancellery of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC.
“On November 2, 2023, it was reported that Fr. Mykola Mykola Luchkiv ChSVV, the pastor of the parish of St. Andrew, was removed from the government [Галицького деканату] in the city of Lviv (Soborna St., 3) from 01.11.2023 in connection with the changes that took place in the Province of the Basilian Fathers of the Most Holy Savior in Ukraine.” – the statement says.
Mykhailo Luchkiv was the parish priest of St. Andrew’s Church from May 10, 2001 to November 1, 2023. Currently, the office’s website states that this “government is vacant.”

The press service of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC “UP. Life” advised to contact Father Ioan Shkolyk, who made the decision on the removal, for a comment. We tried to contact him, but did not receive a response.
We will remind you that on October 20, the music video of the band “Zhadan i Sobaky” and Khrystyna Solova for the joint song “Heart” was released. Representatives of the church where the video was filmed asked the performers to remove it.
In particular, clerics criticized the clip for depicting same-sex relationships.
On October 27, it was reported about the possible replacement of the leadership of the Church of St. Andrew.
The next day, the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC forbade filming clips in churches without the archbishop’s permission.
