In Malaysia, a herd of wild elephants trampled a car after it hit their baby.

A 48-year-old man was driving the car with his wife and 23-year-old son, CNN reports.

The family was traveling along the main highway from Penang Island to the northeastern coastal state of Terengganu on the evening of November 26.

It was raining lightly and foggy, and the car was “making a left turn onto the highway” when it hit the baby elephant.

“A car hit a small baby elephant that was walking along the road with the herd”, – said the police chief of the city of Gerik named Zulkifli Mahmud.

The animal fell to the ground from the impact. Seeing this, the other five elephants rushed to the car and began to trample it.

According to Mahmoud, after the baby elephant got up, the herd left the scene.

Gerick police did not say whether the three family members were in the car at the time of the incident.

The police statement did not report any deaths or serious injuries.

The photos show damage to the front and sides of the white car. The side door was broken, and all the windows were broken.

Also, the authorities did not provide journalists with information about the further condition of the baby elephant.
