A resident of Odesa was hit by a man during a date with her son. The police helped stop the man’s attack.

However, according to the victim, even a week after the incident, a criminal case against the attacker was not opened. As reported by “UP. Life” in the regional police, after communicating with the woman, the law enforcement officers reclassified the case and began an investigation.

The victim Anastasia Balobanova spoke about the incident that happened on November 13, 2023 on a social network. Her husband, with whom she does not live, attacked the woman while she was seeing her son.

“While walking in the park, he started arguing loudly with me, which negatively affects my child’s psyche. In order for my son not to hear this, I was forced to pick up the child. All the way to my car, he was accompanied by insulting words in my direction,” – says Anastasia.

According to the victim, she tried to avoid an argument and wanted to get into the car and drive away. However, the man did not allow the car door to be closed.

The woman claims that the angry man hit her in the face with his head. Anastasia fell to the ground and hit her head, breaking her nose. After that, the man accused the woman of beating him and said he would go to the police to record the beatings.

“I screamed, but the passers-by did not stop. I was saved by a policeman who happened to be passing by. The man began to accuse me of “arranging a concert” and tried to play a family quarrel,” says Anastasia.

Later, the woman stopped the patrol car, wrote a statement and recorded the beatings.

Anastasia says that the incident affected the psyche of her son, who does not sleep well and cries in his sleep. The woman claims that even a week after the incident, the police did not open a criminal case, and the information about him was not entered in the EDPR.

The woman from Odesa believes that they “want to cover up” the case, so she resorted to publicizing it.

The “UP. Life” police reported that during the investigation and after questioning the victim and establishing new circumstances of the incident, the offense was reclassified to Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (domestic violence).

This offense is punishable by community service for a period of 150 to 240 hours, arrest for up to 6 months, or restriction of liberty for up to 5 years, or imprisonment for a term of up to 2 years.

Earlier, the police entered information about the case into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations on the grounds of Part 1 of Art. 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is about causing minor injuries. According to the sanction of the article, the culprit faces a fine of up to 850 hryvnias or community service for a period of up to 200 hours, or correctional work for a period of up to 1 year.
