On November 1, a teenager died on the Dnipro River in Horishnyi Plavnyi during training from a dam.
His body was recovered from the bottom of the reservoir after 4 hours of searching, the National Police of the Poltava region reported.
As Anna Vasenko, press officer of the Kremenchuk police, told UP.Zhyttya, the training of teenagers in the Crimson Sails club began at 4 p.m. in Barbara Bay. The weather was normal, which made it possible to go out on the water.
“In 2 hours, bad weather started, the group of 5 people was returning to the shore.
Around 6 p.m., law enforcement officers and rescuers received a report that lightning had struck a canoe in which a 16-year-old teenager was during training at the yacht club.“, Anna said.

His boat capsized and his body disappeared into the water. Eyewitnesses of the incident called the rescuers, the police, and involved the public in the search.
First, employees of the State Emergency Service inspected the water area where the incident occurred.
10 rescue divers, 3 units of equipment and 2 boats were involved in the search for the teenager.

The boy’s body was found at 22:10 – after 4 hours of searching
Currently, the police sent the teenager’s body for a forensic examination to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
The press officer added that the “Crimson Sails” yacht club has been training for a long time, and its pupils have won prizes at competitions in Europe.
However, the law enforcement officers started criminal proceedings under the article about improper performance of duties regarding the protection of life and health of children, which led to the death of a minor.
