In the Dnipropetrovsk region, 41 fishermen who were drifting on ice floes were rescued. This was reported by the State Emergency Service. On February 12, the residents of the village of Shulgivka of the Petrikivka settlement council contacted the rescue service after seeing two ice floes with fishermen drifting from the shore on the Dnipro River. According to eyewitnesses, there were about 40 fishermen at a distance of 150 m from the shore. Fishermen were adrift in the crisis. Local residents went to the rescue. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service also arrived. Fishermen were freed. 44 people were involved in the operation. Rescue divers went to the scene. Local residents with their own watercraft also joined in rescuing people. 44 people, in particular, 4 divers, as well as 8 units of equipment and 6 emergency rescue boats were involved in the rescue work. The fishermen were freed in a few hours. 35 people were rescued by representatives of the State Emergency Service, and 6 by local residents. The State Emergency Service recommends following certain rules of behavior on water bodies in winter during fishing: it is dangerous to walk on ice less than 7 cm thick; during a crisis it is undesirable to jump, run and gather in groups; when the ice is 10 cm thick, you can engage in ice fishing; if the ice is thicker than 12 cm, you can move by snowmobile; ice with a thickness of 20-30 cm can withstand a car; ice 30-38 cm – pickup truck and jeep.
