In the Lviv region, an employee of a local hotel is accused of treating dogs harshly. Representatives of the animal protection organization “Home of Rescued Animals” said that they were approached by the guests of the local hotel “Edem” and asked to save the newborn puppies. Zoo volunteers were informed that a pregnant dog lived on a chain at the hotel. Only caring people fed the animal. According to volunteer Orest Zalypskyi, the girl who lived in the hotel asked a hotel employee named Lubomyr to help the dog. However, he said that she will give birth and will manage on her own. However, the animal suffered all day and gave birth to puppies, and the owner of the hotel did not respond to her request to help the animal. One of the rescued puppies “Finally, late at night, Lubomyr says that a doctor is coming to see the dog, and takes it to an unknown place, but leaves the puppies behind. The dog simply disappeared, as it turned out later, it was thrown into the field,” the volunteer says. According to the animal rights activist, the hotel employee wanted to drown the puppies. However, the girl was on duty near the animals all night. Lubomyr found one and drowned, and three survived. In the morning, the girl found their mother, who was taken to the veterinary hospital together with the puppies. “Doctors are shocked by the condition of the dog! She is covered in maggots, her condition is critical… The doctors fought for her life until the end, but nothing helped. Maggots were eating her from the inside, they were not only from the outside. There were also dead kittens, which she could not give birth,” says Orest Zalypskyi. Three puppies survived, they are in the “Home of Rescued Animals” shelter. Volunteers are looking for a dog that can feed them. As Yulia, a girl who rescued animals with her boyfriend, said in a comment to ZAXID.NET, she does not know who Lyubomyr worked for at the hotel. She only noted that he is not the owner. After this incident, Julia and her boyfriend were told to leave the hotel. The “Home of Rescued Animals” also said that they had already contacted the police. “We filed a statement under Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is about animal cruelty. We took the dog’s corpse from the vet clinic, it will be kept with us for now. Because the police must appoint an examination,” added Orest Zalypskyi. The police of the Lviv Region “UP. Life” reported that the main police department received an appeal and it is currently being considered. The issue of his legal qualification will be resolved. ZAXID.NET also reached out to Lyubomir, an employee of the Edem Hotel, for a comment. He said that all this is not true and refused to comment further on the situation.
