In the Lviv region, the Mykolaiv district court found a 52-year-old English teacher guilty of bullying, who fought with a student over a ball. She was fined UAH 850, according to the court ruling. According to the court, the teacher systematically bullied 7th graders, and on May 2, 2023, she pushed a seventh grader over a soccer ball. After the conflict with the student, the teacher filed an application for dismissal of her own free will, and the students and parents of the students appealed to the law enforcement officers with a statement. According to the teacher, on May 2 she tried to take the ball away from the student, as he and other students were playing with it in the school corridor. She added that “she did not use physical force on the child, but at a certain moment she lost her balance and fell on the child.” At the same time, the seventh-grader, with whom the teacher had a conflict, said that on May 2 he and his classmates were playing volleyball and did not hear the bell, so they were late for class. The teacher did not allow them to enter the classroom, so they stood in the corridor during the lesson. “One of the students had a ball, which after the end of the lesson, they started tossing between themselves. The teacher wanted to take the ball, pounced on him, wanted to kick him and started hitting him on the hands,” the case documents state. During the trial, another student and the mother of one of the students said that the teacher often did not communicate during distance learning, and during lessons insulted the military. In particular, according to the schoolgirl, the teacher said that “the soldiers at the front are as stupid as the students in the class and will never win.” The school created a commission that called the teacher’s actions unpedagogical. The teacher was found guilty and fined 850 hryvnias. The resolution may be appealed.
