In the Katmai National Park in the state of Alaska (USA), the Fat Bear Week competition is held every year.
This year’s winner was Grazer bear (number 128), it was reported on the Facebook page of the national park.
This animal came to Katmai Park as a cub in 2005. From that time she lived near the Brooks River and often participated in these competitions.
“Although she may not be aware of her new title in this imaginary competition, her success is real! In the bear world, fat equals success, and all bears worked tirelessly to gain the pounds needed to survive the winter hibernation. This is a competition where everyone is a winner“, it was noted on the page of the National Park.

The organizers added that gaining enough weight to win provided her with skill and endurance. This year, the National Park received a record number of votes – 1,382,783.
By the way, the bear competed for the title with the two-time champion, male number 747, who was chosen as the winner last year.
Fat Bear Week is held every year: the winner is determined by the public, which has to choose the brown bear that gained the most weight before the hibernation period. He becomes the winner. Two bears fight for the title, while the winners compete against each other. In addition to entertainment, the goal of the competition is also to acquaint people with the life of bears and the ecosystem of the national park.
We will remind you that recently in the USA there was a more tragic event related to a bear. One of them had to be euthanized because the animal was dying because of the garbage in its stomach.
