In the United States, a drone probably recorded the birth of a baby white shark

A newborn white shark may have been spotted for the first time in the wild. Scientists still do not know for sure where and how these predators are born.
Wildlife filmmakers Carlos Gauna and Philip Sternes from the University of California, Riverside, were filming with a drone when they saw a white shark, 1.5 meters long, writes New Scientist.
The animal caught their attention not because of its size, but because of its color: it was completely white, although usually these sharks are gray above and white below.
Previously, the filmmakers saw how a great and probably pregnant great white shark dived to the depths for a long time. After that, they noticed that the predator “dropped” something from its skin. It is assumed that it was a newborn cub.

Carlos Gauna hopes that this observation will help to learn more about the life cycle of these animals. Because earlier it was believed that they give birth at depth, but now this hypothesis is in doubt.
“Since most of the scientific community thought it unlikely that a newborn would be photographed so close to shore, I didn’t expect to find anything. The piece of the puzzle that this shot contains could really change the direction of where we should be looking.”– noted Gauna.
Charles Underwood, a lecturer at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of London, claims that only three or four white sharks under the age of one year have been found in nature.
“We know very little about them. Once something gets into the depths, we know nothing. They are elusive relative to our ability to see across the sea.”– said Charles Underwood.
One observation is not enough to solve the mystery of the birth of a great white shark. But if in the future it turns out that coastal waters are important for the preservation of the life cycle of great white sharks, then the government should take some measures to protect these areas.
