The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has lifted the five-day isolation recommendation for people with mild symptoms of COVID-19.

Instead, people were allowed to return to normal activities if their condition improved and it had been a day since they had a fever, it said. AR and Reuters.

The guidelines have not been updated since December 2021, when the CDC reduced the recommended isolation time for asymptomatic Americans to five days (previously 10 days).

So, Americans do not have to stay at home for 5 days if they have tested positive for the coronavirus.

If the condition improves and the temperature does not rise for at least 24 hours, you can leave the house.

At the same time, during the next 5 days, such people are still recommended to wear masks, observe hygiene rules, monitor the cleanliness of the air and keep a distance indoors with other people.

“Remember that you can still spread the virus that made you sick, even if you feel better. But you’re probably less contagious at this time.”– it is stated in updated instructions.

If after returning to “usual activities” the patient’s temperature rises or his health worsens, he should stay at home and stay as far away from other people as possible.

Isolation can be completed when the patient has had a normal temperature and is feeling better for at least 24 hours.

Experts explained such changes by the fact that most people have some immunity to the coronavirus thanks to vaccinations or previous infection.

After all, many people still do not follow the five-day isolation recommendations in case of asymptomatic “covid”.

We would like to remind you that in Ukraine they did not change the recommendations on the 5-day period of self-isolation.

Back in February 2022, the Ministry of Health explained that self-isolation can be completed 5 days after the date of symptoms or receiving a positive PCR test, provided that there are no more symptoms of the disease.

Previously, the term of isolation was up to 10 days. People were advised to leave their homes after they had been symptom-free for at least 3 days.
