In Transcarpathia, in the city of Mukachevo, a suspect was detained in the corruption of an 8-year-old girl. This was reported to the regional police. On July 8, 2022, law enforcement officers received a report from local residents who saw a naked man on the river bank. He was swimming with a little girl who was without a swimsuit. The man assured passers-by that he was spending time with his daughter, but they did not believe him. A suspect in the corruption of a minor child The investigative team found a minor child and a 62-year-old man at the scene. The police established that the man began to cling to the child when she left her yard for a walk. He grabbed the girl by the hand and, threateningly, dragged her to the local reservoir. There he forced the child to completely undress and go swimming with him. In the reservoir, the man began to commit lewd acts, which he repeated on the river bank. The police took the child to a safe place, and the perpetrator was arrested. The man was placed in a detention center. His actions were qualified under Part 2 of Art. 156 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (committing lewd acts against a minor), which provides up to 8 years of imprisonment. The police are preparing a petition to the court to choose a preventive measure for the suspect and will insist on keeping him in custody. The law enforcement officers also identified the victim girl’s family and the juvenile police are currently working with them.
