During the archaeological research conducted on the territory of the former ghetto on Anielewicz Street in Warsaw, a craft workshop was discovered where tableware was produced. It was an organization that prepared young people to go to Palestine, its participants joined the resistance movement during the war and took part in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising,” Grabowski emphasized. This find is unique because the workshop has been preserved almost completely. Among the artifacts found under the floor were also packages of pre-war “Poppy” sweets and fragments of a book. The workshop produced tableware for the needs of the residents of the district. Magdalena Krushevska-Polyak, a specialist in the collections department of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, said that the wooden floor and furniture for the workshop found at the construction site on Anielevicha Street were preserved. Decorations and emblems were also made here. “The conservation process itself will last about half a year. Then we want to use these elements in our permanent exhibition. This, of course, is not the last such discovery, because the ghetto occupied a large part of Warsaw,” summarized Kruszewska-Polyak.
