In Transcarpathia, three teenagers raped a 14-year-old girl. The event happened in the summer of 2021, but the court has only now issued a verdict on the case. According to the investigation, in August 2021, the girl came to the basement at the invitation of one of the three teenagers. In the basement, so that the victim did not resist, one of the young men hit her in the stomach, after which another teenager bent over the minor and squeezed her head between his legs, law enforcement officers found out. After the boys took off the girl’s clothes, they raped her one by one, filming everything on their phone. Later, the video was distributed to school students. However, the girl did not tell her anything – the grandmother learned about the rape from the police. Later, the woman wrote a statement about a criminal offense. The victim herself explained that she was on friendly terms with the boys and came to the basement voluntarily, because she had no idea that they could do such a thing. She did not tell anyone about the event because she felt afraid and ashamed. According to the students of the school where the girl studied, only when the video spread did she start talking about what happened. The class teachers and the practical psychologist of the school did not know about the incident. In court, they claimed that they learned about the crime when the police came to the institution. The court found the three boys guilty and sentenced them to 5 years in prison. However, due to their minor age, the court released the teenagers from serving the sentence, appointing instead a two-year probationary period. At the same time, the victim asked to pay her 450,000 hryvnias in moral damages. However, each of the defendants compensated her with 20,000 hryvnias. After that, the prosecution asked the court to collect the difference (390 thousand) in its favor. As a result, the court ordered each of the boys to pay 60,000 hryvnias to the victims, as well as to cover the procedural costs of more than 25,000 hryvnias for each.
