In Zaporizhzhia, the heads of departments of the hospital were suspended, where patients were forced to buy medicines, the costs of which are covered by the Medical Guarantee Program.

People also complained that most of the medicines prescribed to them do not have proven effectiveness, the Ministry of Health reported.

During the official investigation, the heads of the early rehabilitation department, as well as the orthopedic and traumatological department of the City Hospital of Emergency and Emergency Medical Care of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, were removed from their posts.

In addition, the management of the medical institution must return to the patients the funds they spent on the purchase of drugs, which the state should cover.

Also, patients will be refunded for purchased medicines without proven effectiveness.

The Ministry of Health reminds that all expenses related to the treatment of a patient in an inpatient setting are fully covered by the packages of the Medical Guarantee Program. The NSHU transfers funds for each treated patient to all medical facilities with which it has concluded contracts.

“If the hospital does not have medicines to provide medical care, then they do not effectively use the funds paid by the NHSHU. And this is a crime. No patient of the hospital, regardless of the reason for the application, should buy medicine on his own. In such situations, it is necessary to contact the hotline of the NHSHU or to the head doctor”, – emphasized Serhiy Dubrov, First Deputy Minister of Health.
