Day hospitalization is free of charge in hospitals, but not in all cases.

Treatment in a day hospital is free of charge in those medical facilities that:
- have a contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine for the provision of outpatient care (“Prevention, diagnosis, observation and treatment in outpatient conditions” package);
- provide medical care in the conditions of a day hospital.
In the day hospital, the patient can receive minor surgical interventions, diagnostic examinations, etc. These are mainly services that do not require round-the-clock supervision.
The attending physician must issue an electronic referral for medical procedures or other interventions.
However, as the Ministry of Health explains, not every hospital can provide all services – only the one that has the necessary equipment and specialists.
