The Ministry of Health has adopted a unified medical examination procedure for enrolling a child in an educational institution, a children’s rehabilitation and recreation institution.
According to the Ministry of Health, previously, in order to obtain a certificate for enrolling a child in an educational institution, parents had to plan visits to several doctors and receive certificates of various forms. This created discomfort for patients and a significant burden on the medical system.
However, from now on, the child can undergo all basic examinations at the family doctor.
“The examination by the “primary” doctor includes taking an anamnesis, a complete physical examination, checking for signs of acute illness or chronic conditions, as well as measuring height and body weight, examining visual acuity, hearing (whispered speech), posture and plantography. All other examinations, clinical and laboratory tests will be prescribed according to the indications or according to the requirements of the educational institution”. – the Ministry of Health explains.

Based on the examinations, the family doctor will form a generalized conclusion about the child’s state of health, the ministry notes.
In addition, the “primary” doctor will provide recommendations regarding physical activity, level of physical exertion, diet, additional examinations, treatment (if indicated) and preventive vaccinations of the child.
In order to receive a certificate, the child must receive all vaccinations according to the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations, the Ministry of Health emphasizes.
“Another important change – from now on, based on the results of such medical examinations, documents of a single model will be issued. The certificate is issued on the basis of the child’s medical examination data, if there are no medical contraindications for his stay at this educational institution.” – summarized in the ministry.
Medical examinations for enrolling a child in a kindergarten or school in Ukraine are mandatory. Medical examinations for admission to other educational institutions are carried out if this is a requirement of the institution itself or admission conditions.
