“Leaved three groups that got lost”: the military told the story of the copter that became the symbol of the battalion
In the Bakhmut direction, with the help of a Matrice 300 drone, a serviceman helped three Ukrainian groups of fighters to get out of the danger zone and return to their positions. After that, the iron bird was given the call sign “Star of David”, according to the Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard. The events took place in April this year. For this, I chose a point. It was a cemetery near Chasovoy Yar. I raised the drone to 100 m, the road was visible, then flew 3 km from Chasovoy Yar and raised another 200 m. Then he turned on all the navigation lights, the illumination from below and the strobe light,” says Bugai. The first to see the light from the drone was the crew of the group moving on the transporter, then the group of scouts and the group following the wounded. Every 10 seconds, Bugai flew away for 100 m, waited 10 seconds for his brothers to see the direction of movement of the “bird”. In this way, the bird led the fighters into position. Since then, the drone has a symbolic call sign – “Star of David” and is a symbol of the 2nd Battalion of the operational assignment of the Rapid Response Brigade of the 3018th Air Force.
